From the KC Star no less:
Most of all, would the Jayhawks handle the mayhem of a raucous crowd approaching 25,000 in an arena named for legendary Kansan Adolph Rupp against one of the only programs with more tradition?
The irony is that UK wouldn't have had that tradition without Adolph Rupp, just as North Carolina wouldn't have had their tradition without Dean Smith. And neither of those fine gentlemen, a successful racist and a shadowy overlord, could have been who he was without Kansas.
UK does have more wins than KU. Indeed they have more championships as well. They've beaten KU more times than I care to discuss. But given that KU is the Charter Oak of college basketball, one can't say definitively that UK has 'more tradition'.
