From Gregg Doyel's blog:
Darnell Jackson, Kansas: The NCAA is looking into Jackson's connection to a Kansas booster from the Oklahoma City area. Kansas' position is the booster had a pre-existing relationship with Jackson, who is from Oklahoma City. The NCAA's position is ... let's make sure about that whole pre-existing thing. After sitting out the Jayhawks' first exhibition, Jackson was cleared to play in the team's second exhibition Monday night. However, with the real games about to start, we're hearing Jackson might have to sit out the first semester. It wouldn't be a huge loss, what with the development of fellow sophomores C.J. Giles and Sasha Kaun.
I wonder how the NCAA defines "pre-existing" in this context. Darnell seems like a real good kid, and Heaven knows he's had a tough time of things of late, what with the accident in Vegas that hobbled his mother and killed his grandmother. I can't imagine there's anything malicious or shady going on here, but the NCAA may not agree with me.
