Arthur Visits Bloomington for IU v. Duke Game

KU 2006 recruiting target Darrell Arthur spent yesterday in Indiana on an unofficial. He has, of course, visited KU, IU, and 3 other schools on official visits. He was in the Phog for Late Night this year. "I'm deciding between Indiana and Kansas," said Arthur. "Both Indiana and Kansas are big-time schools. The coaches are a little different in how they coach their players. Indiana is a good place, but so is Kansas. It's kind of hard to pick." Speculation had been for a long time that it was down to KU and IU, but Darrell made it official. Many other schools were trying to get in on his recruitment after he chose to wait until spring to sign a letter, but Darrell made it clear he's down to two schools and not interested in others.

Asked about IU's new up-tempo style, on display in the Duke game, Arthur commented, "This year Indiana is more of a running team, and I like that because I like to run. I like to get transition buckets." If that's what he's looking for in a team, though, KU would seem to be a better choice! With the players (including the bigs) we have now, and Sherron Collins coming in next year, KU will be one of the fastest, highest scoring teams in the country.

Although IU wasn't able to pull off the upset against Duke, they played great. Their house was rockin' too. I'm sure this visit made a favorable impression on him, but I doubt that he got to spend a lot of time with Coach Davis or the players. Darrell was on the floor (standing behind the basket) during the shoot around, according to a report in the Indianapolis Star, and spent time with forward Marco Killingsworth, who is a senior. It is my understanding that he and his mother were only in town for one day, staying overnight and returning to Texas this morning.

John Decker of reported on the Arthur visit.
