KU's Quarterback of the Future: Todd Reesing

A lot of Jayhawk fans don't follow football recruiting particularly closely. As the team gains momentum from this season, that may change, as there will very likely be more to follow. In case you missed it, the Jayhawks received an oral committment from Texas QB Todd Reesing. If you are not excited about him, you will be once you see him play. Kellis Robinett, the Kansan sports editor who hails from Reesing country, wrote a great article about TR this week

Begin salivating now.

He threw for 3,343 yards and 41 touchdowns in a 10-game season.

He stepped into a spread offense and transformed a winless Lake Travis team into an undefeated juggernaut by the time he was a senior.

The Associated Press Sports Editors even named him Texas State 4A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior over Matthew Stafford, who is the No. 1 ranked high school quarterback in the country by recruiting Web site rivals.com.

As a matter of fact, he threw for 41 TDs and only threw 5 interceptions. He also added about 800 yards on the ground.

In 10 games.

And if that isn't enough, he chose KU over KSU, which is yet another bell in the death toll for the Wildcats:

After Reesing toured Kansas State and attended a football camp, he took a side trip to Lawrence and was blown away.

"After seeing Manhattan and Lawrence, there was no comparison," he said. "Kansas' campus was prettier and their facilities were a lot nicer. I really liked Lawrence, and everyone I talked to convinced me it was the better school."

Reesing will be here in January after graduating high school a semester early, which means, I think, that he'll be here for Spring football.
